The Department of Political Science, University of Sargodha (UoS), concluded a two-day Model United Nations (MUN) 2025 session organized by the Political Science Academic Forum.
The event provided an engaging platform for students to explore real-world international issues, enhance their debating and negotiation skills, and experience the dynamics of global policymaking.
Delegates from various departments actively participated in the MUN, showcasing confidence, research aptitude, and diplomatic insight. The session featured dynamic debates and policy deliberations in different committees, reflecting studentsโ understanding of contemporary global affairs.
Held for the first time on such a large scale, the grand event was graced by the presence of Vice Chancellor, UoS, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Assistant Commissioner Sargodha Ms. Shereen Gull, Dr. Faisal Javaid, Chairperson, Department of International Relations and Mass Communication, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Principal College of Agriculture, UoS, Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Noorka, and Principal College of Law UoS, Mr. Yasir Aleem.
The MUN was organized under an academic collaboration between UoS and FUUAST, signifying a growing spirit of inter-institutional cooperation and knowledge exchange.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Asiya Saif Alvi, Chairperson, Department of Political Science, highlighted the objectives and scope of the event. She emphasized that such simulations play a vital role in nurturing critical thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills among students while fostering a deeper understanding of international relations and global cooperation.
Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas appreciated the efforts of the Department of Political Science and the Academic Forum for organizing such an intellectually enriching event. He highlighted that initiatives like MUN encourage youth to engage in constructive dialogue, understand global perspectives, and develop the confidence and analytical ability required to become future leaders and policymakers. He urged students to utilize these platforms for promoting peace, diplomacy, and mutual respect among nations.
The event was supervised by Dr. Sundas Khizer, Assistant Professor and Mr. Afzaal Ahmad, Visiting Lecturer, Department of Political Science, University of Sargodha. Their dedicated guidance and coordination contributed significantly to the smooth execution and academic depth of the sessions.
The Model United Nations served as a dynamic learning experience, inspiring young participants to embrace diplomacy, global citizenship, and progressive dialogue in shaping a peaceful and sustainable future.
