UoS Hosts Webinar on Breast Health & Wellness

In connection with World Mental Health Day 2025, the Counselling Centre and the Department of Psychology, University of Sargodha, launched a series of activities under the global theme “Community: Supporting Mental Well-being Together.” The initiative aims to highlight the link between mental and physical health, fostering awareness, resilience, and community support.
Phase I of the series began with an introductory webinar, focusing on the intersection of physical and psychological wellness, with special emphasis on breast cancer awareness.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Ilyas Khan, Certified Lactation Consultant (Pakistan & Qatar), Mammacare Breast Specialist (UK), and Professor of Public Health.
Speaking on the topic “Breast Self-Examination: A Step Towards Self-Care and Personal Well-Being,” he emphasized the significance of breast health awareness, prevention strategies, and self-care practices.
The session drew more than 400 female participants, both in-person and online, from different departments of UoS including Psychology, Sociology & Criminology, and Social Work, along with affiliated institutions such as Iqra Girls College, Government Ambala Muslim College, and Government College for Women, Chandni Chowk. Students actively engaged in the discussion and learned about the importance of early detection and prioritizing personal health.
Concluding the session, Prof. Dr. Najma Iqbal Malik, Chairperson, Department of Psychology and In-Charge Counselling Centre, announced an upcoming License to Practice Certificate Workshop on Self-Breast Examination scheduled for September 16-18, 2025.
She highlighted that the initiative reflects the practical realization of this year’s World Mental Health Day theme, reaffirming the University’s commitment to taking small yet impactful steps toward community well-being.
