UoS Observes Black Day to Mark 78 Years of Indian Occupation of Jammu and Kashmir

The University of Sargodha observed Kashmir Black Day to mark 78 years of Indian illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

The event was jointly organized by the Riaz Shad Co-curricular Forum and the Department of History and Pakistan Studies to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir, condemn Indian atrocities, and highlight the urgent need for a just resolution to the Kashmir issue.

To mark the day, a Kashmir Solidarity Walk was organized with the objective of raising awareness about Indian oppression in the occupied valley and reaffirming support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

The walk was attended by Dr. Muhammad Abrar Zahoor, Chairperson, Department of History and Pakistan Studies; Dr. Muhammad Munir Gujar, Director, Riaz Shad Co-curricular Forum; Prof. Dr. Feroz Ud Deen Shah, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Chairperson, Department of Biological Sciences; Senior Faculty member from Department of Islamic Studies; Muhammad Usman, Incharge, Directorate of Public Relations and Publications; Faisal Javed, Public Relations Officer; Daim Iqbal, Assistant Director, Riaz Shad Co-curricular Forum; along with faculty members, staff, and a large number of students from various departments.

Speaking on the occasion, the participants strongly condemned Indian brutalities in the occupied valley and urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to play its effective role in granting the people of Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination.

As part of the observance, the Riaz Shad Co-curricular Forum also organized a declamation contest, where students passionately highlighted the Kashmir cause, exposed Indian human rights violations, and paid tribute to the resilience and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people. Speakers emphasized that the freedom of Kashmir is vital for lasting peace and stability in South Asia.
