The University of Sargodha (UoS) and the Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Department, Sargodha, have signed a three-year Letter of Collaboration to improve food and nutrition services, healthy diet practices and food safety at the Children Home (Female) and Children Home (Male) in the district.
The agreement was signed by Divisional Director Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Department Shakira Noreen and Director Institute of Food Science and Nutrition, Prof. Dr. Mian Anjum Murtaza.
Under the collaboration, the Institute of Food Science and Nutrition will conduct periodic nutritional assessments of children residing at the two homes, including screening for malnutrition and dietary deficiencies. It will also assist in developing balanced, age-appropriate and cost-effective diet plans and menus.
The collaboration also covers professional guidance on food safety, hygiene, storage and kitchen practices to help ensure safe and nutritious meals for the residents. Nutrition awareness sessions and training for children as well as kitchen and care staff will also be arranged.
The agreement provides for supervised internships, research and field projects and community-service activities involving students and faculty of the Institute at the two children homes.
The collaboration will remain effective for three years from the date of signing and may be extended or renewed with the mutual written consent of both parties.
