Students from the University of Sargodha (UoS) stunned their Chinese hosts with their graceful transformation into traditional Chinese attire as they experienced Hanfu culture during their visit to the historic city of Luoyang.
The UoS students, part of the Pak-China Youth Cultural Experience Summer Camp 2026, received a warm welcome in Luoyang and immersed themselves in the city’s centuries-old cultural traditions. Their Hanfu experience quickly became one of the most memorable highlights of the visit, as the Pakistani students dressed in traditional Chinese clothing and enthusiastically embraced the customs and aesthetics associated with China’s ancient dynasties.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Ms. Wang Chunping, CEO of HeroBoss China-Pakistan Economic and Cultural Center, where the students participated in a seminar and explored opportunities for strengthening China-Pakistan economic, educational and cultural cooperation.
The students also visited Luoyang Ancient City, one of China’s historic cultural centres, where they explored the heritage of different ancient dynasties. Wearing Hanfu while visiting the historic surroundings gave the students a unique opportunity to experience Chinese history not merely as observers but as active participants in its cultural traditions.
Another highlight was a hands-on dumpling-making and baking activity. The students learned how to prepare traditional Chinese dumplings and enjoyed the experience of discovering Chinese food culture through direct participation.
The delegation also visited a local school, where Chinese schoolchildren welcomed them with an impressive cultural programme featuring painting, Chinese calligraphy, music and dance performances. The performances showcased the creativity and talents of the young students and created an atmosphere of warmth, friendship and cultural exchange. Through art, music, traditional culture and informal interaction, the two sides discovered shared values of friendship, hospitality and learning.
The Luoyang visit offered the UoS delegation a fascinating journey through China’s ancient heritage—from Hanfu and ancient dynasties to calligraphy, cuisine, music and dance.
More importantly, it demonstrated how youth-to-youth cultural exchanges can turn curiosity into understanding and strengthen the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.
