Institute of Art and Design, University of Sargodha hosted an Anti-Begging Awareness Exhibition, aimed at highlighting the pressing social challenge of street begging and promoting constructive alternatives through education and skill development.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest, while District Officer Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Sargodha, Syed Ali Abid Naqvi, joined as guest of honor. They reviewed the artworks and commended the students for creatively addressing a critical societal issue.
The exhibition featured 67 pieces of art created by current and former students of Textile, Interior Design, Graphics, and Fine Arts programs. The collection included paintings, photography, posters, and weaving projects, all of which reflected the students’ concern about child begging, poverty, and social exploitation.
Through their work, students conveyed powerful messages: exploitation must be stopped; poverty cannot suppress dreams; society should invest in human potential rather than in begging; and children deserve education, not a life of begging.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas praised the initiative, saying that the students had used their creativity to spread a purposeful message for social reform. “Begging is not only a matter of poverty but a serious social challenge that requires collective action. Education and skill development are the real solutions to break this cycle,” he noted.
Syed Ali Abid Naqvi, in his remarks, announced that a special institution is being established in Sargodha to provide protection to children involved in begging and to equip them with skills that will enable them to become productive citizens.
Appreciating the exhibition organized by the Institute of Art and Design, he expressed his commitment to work in collaboration with the University of Sargodha to further strengthen the campaign against begging in the future.
The event was attended by Director Institute of Art and Design Maryam Saif, faculty members, heads of departments, and a large number of students.
