Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of renowned Iqbal scholar, eminent educationist, researcher and intellectual Prof. Dr Haroon Ur Rashid Tabassum.

In his condolence message, the Vice Chancellor said that with the passing of Prof. Dr. Haroon Ur Rashid Tabassum, Sargodha has lost a towering academic figure whose absence will leave a void in the city’s intellectual and literary landscape that may never be filled. He described him as a symbol of the city’s scholarly identity and intellectual dignity.

He said Prof. Dr Haroon Rashid Tabassum was, above all, a true teacher whose personality reflected the stature of an institution. Thousands of students benefitted from his mentorship and guidance and are now serving in various fields of life, which stands as a testament to his scholarly training and intellectual grooming.

Highlighting his academic contributions, the Vice Chancellor noted that as a distinguished expert in Iqbal studies, Dr. Tabassum rendered invaluable services in promoting the thought of Allama Iqbal, strengthening the ideology of Pakistan, and fostering national consciousness among the youth. His writings, lectures and teaching consistently revolved around Islam, Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam and the philosophy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

He observed that Dr. Tabassum regarded knowledge not merely as a profession but as a national responsibility, and remained devoted to teaching and research throughout his life. His entire career was dedicated to scholarship, research, reading and the intellectual development of the younger generation.

Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas further said that the death of Prof. Dr. Haroon Rashid Tabassum is a great loss not only to academic circles but to the entire city. His services to education and literature will always be remembered with respect, and his role as a teacher will continue to inspire future generations.

The Vice Chancellor also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, students and all those associated with the late scholar, and prayed that Almighty Allah may grant him the highest ranks in Jannah and bless the family with patience and fortitude.
