UoS conference on future of education concludes

The two-day national conference on The Future of Education, organised by the University of Sargodha, concluded at Kohsar University Murree after bringing together vice chancellors, educationists and researchers from across the country to deliberate on the future of higher education in Pakistan.

Addressing the concluding session, Bahauddin Zakariya University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zubair Iqbal said technological advancements had transformed every sector and stressed that digital technologies should be utilised for education, research and innovation rather than merely for entertainment.

Government College University Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Raof-i-Azam emphasised the importance of strengthening institutional systems and organisational culture to improve governance and academic performance in universities.

Fatima Jinnah Women University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza highlighted the need to promote practical learning and project-based education, while The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran said universities should adopt clear strategic direction to effectively benefit from technological advancements.

Government College Women University Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen underlined the importance of a strong teacher-student relationship in improving learning outcomes and shaping future generations.

The conference also featured a panel discussion involving vice chancellors from several public-sector universities, who exchanged views on key issues facing higher education. An interactive question-and-answer session was held with participants.

The conference concluded with a biodiversity walk attended by University of Sargodha Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Sarwar Awan, senior faculty members and university officials.
