The University of Sargodha (UoS) has established a Precision Agriculture and Farm Machinery Training Centre to provide hands-on training in smart farming technologies and promote agricultural research and innovation.

Chinese Consul General in Lahore Sun Yan formally inaugurated the centre, with UoS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas attending the ceremony as guest of honour.

The facility has been established under a tripartite Intent of Cooperation between UoS, China’s Hainan Shunxiang Technology Development Co Ltd and Pak Agro Fertilizer and Chemical Industries.

Under the agreement, the Chinese company will provide technical resources and need-based equipment for the centre, while the university will contribute through research and innovation. Pak Agro Fertilizer and Chemical Industries, the university’s industrial partner, will facilitate field trials and practical demonstrations of smart agriculture technologies.

The centre will provide agriculture students and researchers with practical training in smart farm machinery, precision seeding, intelligent plant protection, precision fertilization, smart irrigation and scientific agronomic management.

The training will cover both citrus and non-citrus crops, with field trials and demonstrations supported by the industrial partner.

University officials described the facility as an important step in Pakistan-China agricultural cooperation, saying it would help introduce modern smart-farming technologies while creating practical opportunities for students, researchers and agricultural practitioners.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal faculty and staff members, representatives of the Chinese company, officials of Pak Agro Fertilizer and Chemical Industries and other stakeholders from the agricultural community.
